Hi

I have just moved my site and have developed a new timezone problem.

The new server is in CST (GMT-6). I have set the server to that time in Raidplaner and it is working fine for any user that has set up their personal timezone (mostly GMT and GMT+1).

There is a small issue in that anyone using the default timezone is now seeing the events incorrectly; but that is easily fixed by asking them to set it.

The real problem is that when I create a new raid in Raidplaner it seems to be ignoring my TZ. So what is happening is I input a raid for 8pm on Monday. It then displays back to me as 2am Tuesday.

I am not sure which version is being stored in the DB as I don't really understand the format that is being used.

Am I missing a setting here or is something set-up wrong?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have set the server in RP setting to be GMT-6. Oddly, whenever I look at the settings screen it displays GMT but I checked it in the database and the rp_timezone record in eqdkp_raidplan_config is showing -6.

Would it help if I supplied the value of the raid_date field from raidplan_raids to help see whether the issue is on the way into or out of the database?

not really. try to get the offset of the raids. must always be the same. if its p.e. +8 hours, set the server timezone to +2 (why? -6+8 = +2) that should help

Sorry, I don't really understand. I didn't think raids had individual offsets?

ok. short example:
you add the raid at 5pm
it shows up as 2pm in the raidview.
the time offset is -3h

as a workaround, adjust the servertime with this offset, and you'll receive the times you want to have

means: the issue is not unknown, but will not be fixed in the 0.6 branch as it is not that easy. in 0.7 the timezone management is done by php5, and should work better.it is one thing to be tested in the alpha 3

Ahh thanks. I'll have a play around with it. I know from the day job that timezones are infuriatingly tricky to get consistently right :)

I just adjusted the server timezone in Raidplaner setupto GMT which should cancel out the 6 hour offset and the raids are still going in 6 hours ahead of the time that I input for them. Additionally it seems to have had no impact on the existing raids and I would have expected them to need adjusting based on the change of server TZ; in fact it seems to have had no impact on anything.

Any other settings that I might be missing?

If needed we can manage by just adjusting the time as we enter it until 0.7 comes out :)

They are still going in 6 hours ahead :(

Server TZ set to 0
My TZ set to 0
Add raid starting at 19:30 on 14/2
System displays it as starting at 01:30 on 15/2

Which is the same result I got with the Server TZ set at -6
