Cauldron - Herb contribution made easy and transparent!About a year ago we got the Cauldron achievement in our guild, so of course we wanted to start using them. A quick calculation made it pretty clear we didn't have enough gold coming in to pay for these with guild bank funds. To make it fair to everybody we decided to start with mandatory herb contributions per raid for everyone that attends our raids. To keep track of it all, we started out with a Google Docs spreadsheet and although it was good enough to keep track of who sent what when, it lacked a lot. Some people wanted to send a lot of herbs at once, some people kept forgetting to send them, so we needed something a bit more enhanced. The inability to communicate with Raidplanner was also pretty annoying. Soon we decided to build a php script to handle everything and shortly after we decided an EQDKP plugin was the best way to go.
After some programming by me and a guildie the first working version was complete. We have been using this in our guild for over 9 months now. It worked perfectly and I wanted to let other people use it as well, but all config was hardcoded and some things had to be altered directly in phpMyAdmin. Not exactly user friendly. Busy schedules pushed a release back, but now we finally had some time to finish it.
Since there isn't a lot of documentation on building an EQDKP plugin and my knowledge of php is fairly limited, code might be a bit shady here and there. Everything works fine though and that's the most important part for me.
Now that's a whole lot of text, but what does it do?Our herb contribution system means that everyone that attends a raid must send a set amount of herbs and volatile life. This plugin keeps track of this.
Herbs and other payments have to be entered manually, all attended raids are imported through the Raidplanner. Being confirmed adds a raid for that member to Cauldron. Everyone can see who sent what and when, how many raids they can still attend without having to contribute more and how much they still have to send in simple overview pages.
Admins can add or remove herbs or alternative payments, import raids from Raidplanner, alter settings (mainly herbs and life per raid), set members' active status and add new members if someone sends herbs before attending a raid.
It has 3 different permissions, View, Manage and Settings. The latter two are admin permissions, one to do everything but change settings and one to change settings.
Since showing it says more than a description, here is a link to our working plugin:
